Yeah… Met with the partner on the movie idea, read through the next chapter and we started some conceptual drawings of The Monster…
Just increadible stuff.
We talked about some financial stuff as well, and worked on some consent and confidentiality agreements.
For those interested, the movie (working title: Bob’s Giant Monster Movie) has a forum set up at the Brick Cave Media site, located here
It also would not be a bad idea to subscribe to the BCM Email List, here
As the summer wears on, we’ll start posting more concrete information in those places…
Movie News and other project updates

Time is just flying by…
Had our first production meeting with the movie and man, we were comfortable. It was a great time, and we are definitley gonna get this bad boy off the ground.
The working title is “Sacrifice” and while I cannot divulge details at the moment, we are definitley going to start meeting weekly, and nailing down the screenplay, with a story version of it that we’ll sell by the chapter to help raise money for the production.
We are a ways away from taking on actors and such, but we are definitley setting the groundwork for some amazingly fun cinema.
In other news, My new CD, Boboliscious, is coming along nicely. Six tracks are done and this weekend I should be nailing down another 5 or 6, then weeding out any weak herd members. I’ll probably release an extra track on the Brickcavemedia.com website once all of the mixes are done, so be sure to get registered in the store to be able to get one for free. The CD will have my first instrumental composition, which my beta-listeners have told me is very enjoyable.
Tomorrow, if you are not busy, come by the Essenza Coffeehouse for the 2008 Mesa National Slamoff, I’ll be webcasting the show for free and you can learn more at www.spokenworld.com.
I’ll post some more about the mini-tour in July and such, but for now that’s all I’ve got.
What's Up with me?

I’ve been working on Brick Cave media for awhile, and it is coming along nicely. I have a bunch of additional stuff to pot, but I have been too busy working to get to chat about WHAT I’m working on. Hopefully, this weekend will bring soem time for serious blogging.
Writing in the Blog...

hmmm… I have a lip sore… stress I guess…
I was thinking about a post Klute made in his journal about blogs being used in Art world. It actually related to someone else’s journal whom I will not give the courtesy of a link to, but it struck me as odd that the Art world struggles to use words (blogs) to communicate.
I mean, I have a friend on my LJ account, Stacey Alexander, who used LJ quite efficiently to blog art related things (and a seperate journal for more life oriented stuff). But she seems to me to have a pretty good handle on using the Internets as a tool for her art, and the expression thereof.
There was a time when artists were lifelong devoted to their medium- oils, sculpture, etc. I mean, is that still the case? I see artists that are equally competent in many fields emerge, ie. Sammie with Spoken Word and Painting, Stacey with Film, and just about anything else she can get her hands on it seems, and on and on…
Has our modern society created the means for us to pursue the artistic endeavor we want, when we want? We aren’t tied by time restriction (as much) to one medium. We are not forced by inaccesability to only learn the art our parents learned before us.
My mom is a painter, a great painter, but I have not yet pursued any painting, I work with words, because I had access to tool to teach me about using words and motivations to encourage me to use words.
I seem to have gotten off topic a little… but I am not sure why art blogs have not become more mainstream. It seems, in said unreferenced blog, he chastises a different set of artists that held a virtual conference as I understand it on this very topic of blogs in the art world.
I could see maintaining a blog as contrary to some extend the work ethic and desire of the artist to express themselves in their medium, which I presume to be visual. I mean, if you’re busy painting your message, why do you want to stop and write it out? I could see that as sort of contrarian.
I’ll post some more in the next few days, but I thought I’d throw that out there…
There is alot to write about today

First up, I have opened up Anthology.
Why?
Couple reasons come to mind, but the most important is that I have started looking to do some other things, making the movie, the new CD, selling Sharon’s Book and CD. These are things I want to do, and it’s not particularly fair to Anthology for me to ignore it and change directions.
At least, it would not be in line with my original intent for Anthology for me to do that.
The Board and Volunteers will pick the new Director in a couple weeks, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out…
Next up, what have I been up to?
I’ve been working on Brick Cave Media alot, and it is coming together. I just need some bio pages for the primary peoples, and then fill in the products. I am pretty excited about this, but there’s not alot to share at the moment, most of what I’ve done is behind the scenes stuff.
The 24 Hour Microphone…
Was a blast. It was fun to spend time with Dave, and see all the readers… The audio was awesome, and I’ll probably just burn it (the files) onto a DVD (or 3) and give it to Dave to use as he sees fit. I most likely won’t have time to chop it up before the new ED is hired for Anthology, and I’m not sure what they will want to do with it, if anything.
Amazon.com…
Amazon’s policy change regarding POD books is kind of interesting. In essence, yes, I believe they are leveraging their market position to capture the complete book production cycle for small books. And, really, that’s none too cool. But it’s Amazon’s business to do with as they please- much the same way it’s eBay’s business to change their fee structure- which, I will almost guarantee provided some inspiration to Amazon to make such a bold move.
If I were Lightning Source, B&N, Borders, The American Writer’s Guild, etc.- I would be rushing to set up an alternative, a sight designed especially for POD books, and promote the living hell out of it as the “Open Source” alternative to Amazon.
Personally, I figured when the time came, I would use the Associates Service anyway to sell BCM titles, but my intent is more of a marketing benefit by being on Amazon anyway.
It has become obvious that being an enabler of commerce apparently is a limited growth business, forcing companies like Amazon to start to look at controlling a larger part of the product creation process, and the profits that come with it.
This change from 8 years ago is a profound one- I am still mystified at how Brick and Mortar stores have failed to grasp Internet selling concepts- especially Sears, they had a frieking 100 year head start on remote selling, talk about dropping the ball- and now we are seeing the e-stores look at moving into more retail positions- crazy stuff.
Back to Poetry…
Big, busy weekend this weekend, and we are hoping to finally kill some of the VOY shows and get some kids into the finals. I’ll post some more on that later, gotta go.
